Sur l'edition de MDXXI (1521) [but early 19th cent.]

108 pp. Half leather with marble paper binding. Very good condition! Title and frontispice in red & black. Full page plates in red & black and several magical diagrams in the text. The text is printed on thick laid paper.

This edition is rare and has not been cataloed by Caillet, Coumont, et al.

In English and Italian the Dragon Rouge is known as the Grand Grimoire.

The Dragon Rouge is a handbook which explains how to enter into a pact with three Infernal Spirits especially Lucifuge Rofocale.

The Demonology of the Dragon Rouge is unique for its introduction of Lucifuge. A. E. Waite observes that Lucifuge is an alteration of Lucifer (light bearer) to Lucifuge (fly-the-light). Eliphas Levi also adopted Lucifuge as a fearsome demon.

This work is a cornerstone in the western cermonial magical tradition and here it is in a very sought after and very rare early edition.
